Ultra-compact Dekton worktops, virtually indestructible.
Cosentino's flagship ultra-compact surface. Manufactured under extreme heat and pressure, Dekton resists heat, scratches, stains and UV — making it the architect's choice for high-spec Irish kitchens, integrated sinks and outdoor cooking spaces. Templated and fitted across Dublin, Louth, Meath and nationwide.

What is a dekton worktop?
Dekton is an ultra-compact surface developed by Cosentino, manufactured using a proprietary sinterised stone technology that compresses raw glass, porcelain and quartz materials under extreme heat and pressure. The process replicates over thousands of years of natural metamorphic stone formation in just a few hours. The result is one of the strongest, most durable surfaces available for kitchen worktops — scratch-proof, heat-proof, stain-proof and UV-stable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Why choose dekton?
Outstanding heat resistance
Place a pan straight off an induction hob onto Dekton without a trivet — the surface tolerates extreme heat without damage.
Scratch and chip resistant
Among the hardest worktop surfaces commercially available. Chop directly on Dekton (though we still recommend a board for blade life).
Non-porous and stain-proof
Zero water absorption — wine, coffee, oil, ink and acidic foods wipe straight off.
UV stable, indoor or outdoor
Dekton won't fade in direct sunlight. Suitable for outdoor kitchens, conservatories and full-height splashbacks behind windows.
Ultra-thin formats
Available in 4mm, 8mm, 12mm and 20mm thicknesses — perfect for slimline contemporary kitchens or cantilevered breakfast bars.
Integrated sinks possible
Dekton allows truly seamless integrated sinks and drainers, eliminating silicone joints around the basin.
Where dekton needs care.
Higher entry price
Dekton is a premium product — entry pricing is roughly 30–50% above quartz or granite. For tight budgets, quartz delivers similar everyday performance at a lower outlay.
Fewer veined options
Heavy-veined marble-effect designs are catching up but the range is still narrower than quartz. If statement bookmatched veining is the brief, quartz or marble may offer more choice.
Specialist fabrication
Dekton's hardness means fabrication takes longer and requires specialist tooling — factor this into your project timeline.
How much do dekton worktops cost in Ireland?

How to care for dekton.
- 1
Dekton needs no sealing — ever. Soap and water are enough for everyday cleaning.
- 2
For routine cleaning, use a soft cloth with warm soapy water. Dekton tolerates virtually any household cleaner.
- 3
Stubborn marks — even hardened paint, marker pen or limescale — can usually be lifted with a non-abrasive cream cleaner or a degreaser.
- 4
Hot pans direct from the hob are fine. Dekton tolerates extreme heat without scorching or discolouration.
- 5
Dekton is scratch-resistant, but use a chopping board to preserve your knife edges.
- 6
For outdoor Dekton kitchens, a wipe-down after cooking sessions keeps the surface looking new — no winter covering needed.
Dekton vs Quartz.
Dekton outperforms quartz on heat, UV stability and scratch resistance, but costs more. Quartz offers a wider range of marble-effect designs at a lower price point. For most family kitchens, quartz is the value choice; for high-spec or outdoor projects, Dekton wins.

Dekton worktop FAQs.
Is Dekton better than quartz?
+
Dekton outperforms quartz on heat resistance, UV stability and scratch resistance, and allows fully integrated sinks. Quartz is more affordable and offers a wider range of veined finishes. For most kitchens, quartz is the value choice; for high-end, outdoor or integrated-sink projects, Dekton is the better pick.
Can Dekton crack?
+
Dekton is one of the strongest worktop materials available, but like any ultra-compact surface, it can be susceptible to localised stress if not properly supported around cut-outs. Our experienced fabrication team plans every cut-out to minimise this risk. Once installed, Dekton is virtually indestructible.
How thick are Dekton worktops?
+
Dekton is available in 4mm, 8mm, 12mm and 20mm thicknesses. 12mm is the most popular for kitchen worktops in Ireland — combining a slim modern profile with full structural integrity. 20mm is used for chunkier island statements.
Can Dekton be used outdoors?
+
Yes — Dekton is one of the very few worktop surfaces fully rated for outdoor use. It's UV stable, freeze-thaw resistant and won't fade or degrade under Irish weather. Ideal for outdoor kitchens, BBQ surrounds and conservatories.
Is Dekton worth the extra cost?
+
For high-spec architect-designed kitchens, outdoor kitchens, integrated sinks, or anyone who simply wants the best-performing surface available, yes. For standard family kitchens where quartz delivers excellent everyday performance at a lower price, quartz is usually the smarter call.
Does Dekton need sealing?
+
No — Dekton is non-porous and requires no sealing, ever. Soap and water is all you need for daily cleaning. This is one of Dekton's biggest practical advantages over natural granite.
What is the most popular Dekton colour in Ireland?
+
Aura (a soft white with grey veining), Bergen (warm white with subtle movement), and Domoos (matte mid-grey) are consistently our most fitted Dekton finishes — they pair beautifully with both modern and classic Irish kitchen designs.
